Dry Needling and Cupping Q & A

What is dry needling?

Dry Needling is an exciting form of treatment available to treat pain and aid dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system. During this therapy, a thin filiform needle is inserted into the skin to directly affect the underlying trigger points, muscles and fascia.. The needle is “dry” or without medication. Physical Therapists at Summit Physical Therapy AZ use Dry needling to alleviate pain, release trigger points or “knots”, reduce muscle tightness and improve range of motion.

What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of therapy which utilizes suction with special cups that are placed on the skin. It is used to reduce pain and stiffness by releasing tissue restrictions and promoting local blood and lymph flow. Physical Therapists at Summit Physical Therapy AZ use cupping to treat soft tissue injuries and dysfunction such as with longstanding pain, following whiplash or for scarring following surgeries.
