When we're under chronic stress, our bodies release hormones that prepare us to respond to danger. This is helpful for short term danger, but when it persists for longer than it was intended to it can increase muscle tension, reduce sleep quality, increase fatigue, and amplify pain.

Is it a coincidence that stressful periods in your life are often accompanied by elevated pain levels?
